The usual warning for somewhat-alternative content applies. Happy browsing, and stay connected in a week or two for another Queen's Blade update.

Also, the galleries and the image board threads are now paginated, for reducing page load times.

Mobile wallpaper/Avatar editor upgrade

post reply
FC's online Mobile Wallpaper/Avatar Creator has been completely renewed. It's now more complete, more client-side, and provides some image-retouching filters.

The overall functionality is the same: find a beautiful pictures in the galleries or the image board, click "create mobile wallpaper" or "create avatar", crop a portion of the image and save it.

So what's new? That after cropping, there is an additional step: the image is now cropped directly on your browser, and you will be able to apply some photoshop-like filters to fine-tune and enhance it before saving.

You can play around with a sandbox picture here. It's only for demonstration purposes, so it does not allow to save the final wallpaper.

Here is the changelog:
  • Rotating the selection (before cropping) is no longer supported. You can now rotate the whole image instead.
  • After cropping the image, the following filters will be available: image flip; brightness/contrast; hue/saturation/lightness; red/green/blue balance; blur/sharpen; outer border; glow; sepia; remove noise.
  • You can undo up to 3 last applied filters.
  • Image processing is all browser-side via javascript now; this reduces server load, but might be slow on older computers; expect some lag while applying filters.
  • The editor now relies heavily on HTML5 canvas elements; older browsers and IE most probably will not work. Preferred browser is Firefox 3.6.
Please comment here if you encounter bugs, malfunctions, or just have suggestions. Every feedback is welcome.

Very nice. Thanks for keeping this site alive. :)

The site updates are a bit stalled, because I'm very busy IRL. There have been a couple site enhancements though.
The mobile wallpapers gallery has been categorized by resolution in a better way. A new format has been added, 360x640 (nHD, suitable for modern touch-screen Nokia phones), and now the resolutions menu in the gallery is more intuitive. Once you create a wallpaper, there's a new button to share your creation on Facebook quickly. Please try it out, and spread the word.
Also, the QR code reader list has been restricted to keep the best of both world: the Barcodes application for iPhone (tried it out myself, works great) and the Kaywa reader for all other phones. The QR codes are a great and fast way to access internet contents with your mobile device; they're very popular in Japan (see pic below) but they're starting to get widely used in the western world too.

I recently acquired the aforementioned magazine, debinded it, and scanned it. It contains images from various anime series, such as K-ON, Saki, Toradora and many others.

You can browse the images in this thread on the image board. 82 images, 300 dpi scans resized to 2400 px, without filters.

Some of the images are from anime series that I can't recognize; feel free to add the missing titles to the thread tags.

With the aid of a nice little javascript library, I added some visual thingies around the site, mainly in the image board, which should help the user providing additional information.
While viewing the image board, hovering on a thread icon will show a tooltip containing a preview of the thread.

Inside a thread, every thumbnail will show a tooltip with the full image's resolution and size. Also, tooltips have been used to show possible errors while posting stuff (no more ugly javascript alerts, which is quite neat, try it out).

These functionalities should be extended to the galleries soon.

On a side note, 9 scans have been added to the Gurren Lagann gallery.

This site gets better and better. Too bad there is barely any activity.

Image board old posts back up

post reply

I finally managed to import almost all of the old image board threads; some of them had corrupted jpgs, so I couldn't recreate the thumbnails and have been partially/totally lost. I'll repost from scratch the ones that I had created, and I'm sorry for the other ones.

I think the new image board is very straightforward to use, but let me explain some points that might not be obvious.
  • The post deletion system is 4chan-alike. When you post a thread/comment, you can specify a password. You can then select your post, input your password again in the form at the bottom of the thread, and use the delete button. If you are the thread creator, you can input the password of the first post and use the delete thread button (without having to manually select the posts). If no password is entered while posting, the post is undeletable.
  • You can add tags to every thread. While viewing a thread, on the left column, enter some significant tags for the thread (i.e. for a K-ON thread, 'k-on', 'music', 'school girls', 'slice of life', 'kyoani'). Everyone can delete the tags and enter new ones. The administrators can approve the single tags, so that the delete icon will disappear from them. Once the thread has some tags, you can use the search function on the image board page and it will appear in the search results.

Herrow.

Fixed a problem in the image board search function.

Also tripcodes should work in news comments too now.

Hi, and welcome to the 6th installment of FerriCorp.

Basically, it's the same stuff with a different layout. You can access the other sections from the tabs on the site header. There is a lot of missing stuff right now, but it'll all be fixed in the next days (hopefully)

Now some notices. The maid in the header is just a placeholder. We'll probably get new cool mascots in the near future. Also the whole header graphichs might get improved.

The image galleries are now sorted by anime, artist and artbook, and a tag system will relate galleries together for fast access. You can still create avatars and cell phone wallpapers using the links while viewing the single images.

The image board, as I said previously, is brand new. I coded it from scratch, so it will most probably be improved after I see some 'real' usage of it. Users can post threads, add images, comments, tags and links to it. Mess with it to find out more.

The avatar and mobile wallpapers gallery now contain thumbnails that also link back to the gallery which they were created from. They're also sortable by resolution.

That's all - I'll post again if I need to report some more fixed things. Enjoy the new layout.

The old FC forum is still accessible from here.

The site updates are on halt until the new version of the site is ready.

Thenew FC will be pretty much the same, but with better contentdisposition, visibility and usability. The biggest change lies in theimage board, that will have a bigger role; it'll be a brand-new imageboard system, halfway between 4chan-type and danbooru-type.

Theforums will most likely be gone; it's not a great thing spending moretime in the admin panel to delete spambot posts, than reading theactual user posts. It will remain there in read-only mode until I savethe important posts. Actually, every public section of the forum isalready read-only.

I'll update this news to tell forecasts about when it will all be ready. Stay tuned.

Excited about the new layout, sorta sad about the forums--but on the other hand, imageboards whoo

That said, the boards have been pretty dead now for a while, and spambots are whores. It sucks, but it's natural progression, I guess. Or regression. Either way, a more streamlined FerriCorp is good for all of us, and like I said, I'm excited about the changes.

fc nevar forget

Fact is - every forum needs someone that starts new threads, so that others can reply, and the forums stays alive.
Now that I graduated from uni and RL kicked in, I can't actively monitor the forums and start discussions. So I decided to follow a more radical path for the new site - less discussion and more images. The new image board will still allow discussion, but it will be more focused on the images (basically each thread has images at the top, comments at the bottom); also it will be more integrated with the rest of the site, using a tagging system that will relate together image board threads, site galleries, and avatars/mobile wallpapers (I'm not releasing it immediately though, it's still in development).

The new site will probably roll out on the second half of june.

Finally, here it is, the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED / SEED Destiny gallery. Over 350 new images.

Please note that there are no images focused on the various mecha; as every Sunrise series it had lots and lots (and lots) of images, so while browsing them I gave precedence to the ones featuring human characters (hot girls > mecha. Even though there are lots of boys in this gallery).

Small changes to the mobile wallpapers creator: now you don't have to explicitly save the wallpaper to the gallery. It gets saved automatically, you only get the option to delete it if you messed up. Same goes for the avatar creator.

Try the avatar creator on a sample image clicking here.

For now, you can choose to output 100x100, 150x150, or 200x200 avatars, and add a border of any color around them. Once you create the avatar, it is automatically added to the avatar gallery, accessible from the right menu too.

As announced in my previous Shuffle! update, here's the gallery about the artist, Aoi Nishimata. She's an eroge artist for the company Navel, along with Hiro Suzuhira.

It's out of doubt that her designs are very uniforn, with all the characters resembling each other a lot (except for the hair), so you might like them all, or be sick of them. You have 250 pics to find it out.

Small news: I'm testing stuff in the wallpaper creator, precisely avatar creation. 100x100 and 200x200 avatars available for now; I will most likely make a separate editor and gallery page for mobile wallpapers/avatars in the near future. I'm also planning to put an option for adding borders around the avatar. Suggestions welcome.

New feature on FC! As you can guess from the title, it's a tool for creating wallpapers for mobile devices, using any image on this site, by automatically resizing and cropping them.

Warning:
- the tool is still to be considered in its beta stage, please report here if you find any malfunction.

Its usage is very obvious, but here is a little visual tutorial.

UPDATE Dec 22: Domain transfer is complete, I will start the migration of the site on Dec 24. It will take some time uploading all the galleries again though. Stay tuned for more information. Now the "highlights" part at the top of this page is collapsible!

As stated in the most recent announcement on the forums, FC is about to move servers, so I guess the updates will be on halt for a while. Tests on the new server are going smoothly, the only big things left are reuploading everything, and transfer the domain. The actual server move will take place sometime this month.

Changing topic. I noticed that right after being created, the Code Geass gallery received a lot of visits, placing itself in the 3rd place of the most visited gallery.
This led me to think that there must be more famous anime titles that FC should have a gallery of; and the best way to notice them, is ask you visitors directly.
So, leave a comment here, or if you're too lazy to register, post on the image board in this thread, answering the following question: which gallery should FC absolutely have?

Here we are, finally, with this BIG update. 3 galleries, for a total of 420 totally unsorted, ungrouped and unordered scans. Touhou has gotten already so big of a phenomenon that I couldn't resist not giving it some credit. For the less informed:

The Touhou Project is a series of 2D (with 3D background) vertically-scrolling danmaku shooting games made by Team Shanghai Alice, with two fighting game spinoffs co-produced with Tasogare Frontier. They are similar to regular shooting games, but focus more on weaving through complex patterns containing anywhere from dozens to hundreds of bullets. Every game in the Touhou series is set in the fantasy land of Gensokyo, and the series is known for its huge cast of characters, well-developed storylines, and related materials such as music CDs and fan-made comics.

This update actually is a bit against the policy of FC (which tries to gather official-only images). No official Touhou art exists outside of the games, so the galleries consists ONLY of fanart. So many CD covers, so many doujinshi with amazing artworks were out, I guessed I'd make an exception.

You can find the galleries deep down in the artists menu. Direct links:
(Touhou gallery 1) (Touhou gallery 2) (Touhou gallery 3)

The update this time consists of a multi-artist artbook, named Shin Moeru Headphone Reader. It's a collection of illustrations of girls wearing headphones of famous existing brands. Credit goes to pireze.org.

The original artbook contains in-depth reviews of those headphones by the illustration artists, but it's not really the point of this update (and of this site) so I cropped out everything outside of the actual illustration (also because the original scans had some nasty folds and shadows). If you want bigger, uncropped scans with author commentary etc, follow the above link.
